Thos. Moser, Handmade American Furniture announces its summer art exhibit, “Dedicated to Art: Corcoran Gallery of Art & George Washington University Artists in Maine.”  The exhibition will  be on display in the company’s Freeport showroom June 22 through Oct. 10.

As part of the showroom’s ongoing effort to display Maine artwork, the exhibit features 83 paintings, prints, drawings and photographs from 24 artists who have a connection to Maine and either attended or taught at the Corcoran Gallery of Art or George Washington University. The University recently took over the Corcoran College of the Arts and Design and the historic Corcoran Gallery of Art building, while the National Gallery of Art assumed custody of the Corcoran’s art collection

Artists in the Freeport show include Bernard Langlais, Joyce Tenneson, Christopher Pearse Cranch, Cicely Aikman, James Daugherty, Abraham Rattner, Charles DuBack and Brockie Stevenson.

While unique in their style and interpretation, the artists featured in “Dedicated to Art” are united by their connection to the schools as well as their relationship to Maine. Each artist featured in the summer exhibit has spent from a week to several decades living, painting or photographing the state. Several have also taught or studied at Maine’s seasonal art schools, such as the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and Maine Media Workshops.

An opening reception will be held Thursday, June 22, 6-8 p.m. with an art talk and second reception to be held Thursday, July 20. Thos. Moser is located at  149 Main Street, Freeport. For more information, call 207- 865-4519 or visit thosmoser.com.
