Thinking about downsizing?

We welcome the public to an open house on Saturday, March 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rev. Edward and Bonnie Wynne, who are successful "downsizers" and are now living at The Lincoln Home, will speak about the emotional, and practical work of giving up a house to gain independence by living in a senior community and the benefits of completing the challenge. Rick Bisson, a certified home marketing specialist, will discuss the transition process of preparing and selling your home and the best ways to maximize your bottom line. Steve Raymond, and members of the board of directors will be on hand to answer questions and give tours of independent and assisted living apartments.

“Choosing Adventure"

We welcome the public to join us Monday, March 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. Carolee Withee offers a presentation which describes the extraordinary, unexpected and often amusing events which happened to a mature women traveling and living abroad. Her experiences include a Fulbright Summer Study in Israel, an educational seminar in Australia, Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan, biking in Austria and France and teaching at a university in Moldova.

"Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes"

There is an epidemic of Type 2 Diabetes in Maine, and it affects seniors age 65 and older at a much higher rate than younger folks. Eighteen out of every 100 seniors currently has Type 2 Diabetes in Maine. It is a disease with many difficult complications that destroy quality of life and reduces lifespan. There is much we can do to prevent Type 2 Diabetes with education, and there is lots of new thinking on the subject.

"Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes" on Monday, March 20, 3-4 p.m., will be presented by registered dietician and nutritionist Demsie Clark in conversation with Spotlight on Seniors host Steve Raymond, and filmed for “Spotlight on Seniors” in The Lincoln Home.
