Traffic pattern changes in Bath Sept. 16-20
MaineDOT is advising drivers of changes in traffic patterns on Commercial Street and Vine Street in Bath Friday through Tuesday, September 16-20.
The changes are required due to construction associated with the reconstruction of the Bath Viaduct. While traffic will be reduced to one lane in certain areas, access to all Historic Downtown Bath businesses and the Information Center will be maintained.
The planned changes in traffic patterns are as follows: 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 through 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17:
West-bound traffic on Vine Street / Leeman Highway will be reduced to a single lane of traffic. East-bound traffic on Commercial Street / Leeman Highway will be unaffected. 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 through 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20:
West-bound traffic on Vine Street / Leeman Highway will be reduced to a single lane of traffic. East-bound traffic on Commercial Street / Leeman Highway will be blocked from using Commercial Street (beyond Washington Street) or King Street. East-bound traffic will be able to access the Sagadahoc Bridge and points east/north on Route 1.
MaineDOT has scheduled this work for low-volume days and periods to impact the fewest number of motorists. Travelers should seek alternate routes to avoid the Washington Street intersection; if unavoidable, travelers should allow an extra 5-10 minutes of travel time.
Drivers should watch for signs, flaggers or traffic control officers in the area. MaineDOT reminds all drivers to please obey posted speed limits and pay attention when driving through work zones.
