United Way annual meeting May 11
The public is invited to attend United Way of Mid Coast Maine’s annual meeting on Thursday, May 11 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington Street in Bath. Registration for the event is available online at uwmcm.org or by calling United Way at 443-9752.
Sue Mackey Andrews of the Maine Resilience Building Network and Maine Children’s Growth Council will speak on “Healthy and Resilient Children and Families.” There is substantial evidence that young children who receive positive, nurturing parenting and attention have greater likelihood of not only long-term health, but also resilience to handle challenges when they occur. Mackey Andrews is a leader in Maine and beyond on putting into practice ways to promote health and resilience in children: a primary focus of United Way of Mid Coast Maine.
The annual meeting will also include nominations of the following individuals for election or reelection to United Way’s Board of Directors: Rick Bohan of L.L. Bean, Pam Gerbi of Brunswick, Sean Martin of Bath Savings Trust Company, Heidi Shott of Newcastle and the Episcopal Diocese of Maine, and Joel Wegner of Five County Credit Union.
Bath resident and retired Bowdoin College Professor Nancy Jennings will be nominated for election to chair of United Way’s Board of Directors, Joel Wegner of Five County Credit Union will be nominated as first cice chair, Bill Brillant of Downeast Energy as second vice chair, and Sean Martin, vice president of Bath Savings Trust Company as treasurer.
Community Builder Awards will be presented to organizations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Midcoast Maine community. United Way of Mid Coast Maine’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. In partnership with thousands of donors, United Way works to improve education, financial stability, and health for people in Brunswick and Harpswell, Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties.
