Broadband in Lincoln County: Where We Are, Where We Want to Go & Why
Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission invites municipal officials, businesses, educators, economic development leaders, and community residents to participate in a broadband workshop, Thursday, Jan. 19, 4 to 6 p.m, at the LCRPC Office, 297 Bath Road, Wiscasset (across from Big Al’s).
The workshop is open to the public free of charge, and is presented by the LCRPC in partnership with ConnectME, LCI, and Axiom Technologies. To RSVP, please emailmbarnes@lcrpc.org or call 882-5983.
Topics to be covered include existing services and infrastructure, definitions of technologies and standards, digital literacy, the case for broadband in our region, public/private sector partnerships and strategies in Maine, and working together to build regional and local broadband initiatives.
Weeding Through Marijuana Legislation: What it Means to Our Towns
A learning workshop for Lincoln County municipalities, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission.
Featuring a presentation on Municipal Issues in Legalized Marijuana by Edward (Ted) Kelleher and Amy Tchao, Attorneys with Drummond Woodsum Law Firm and a question & answer session with a panel of local resources: Planning and Zoning, Health and Medical, Law Enforcement, and Prevention.
Co-sponsored by Healthy Lincoln County, Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, Coulombe Center for Health Improvement, and Boothbay Region Community Resources Council.

MaineDOT bicycle & pedestrian funding available
MaineDOT is currently accepting applications for bicycle and pedestrian projects with a target construction date of 2020. Although available funding varies from year to year, roughly $2.3 million in federal funds is allocated annually for the Department’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program with a maximum grant award of $400,000 and a required 20 percent local match.

Many communities in Lincoln County have an approved local bicycle and pedestrian plan with specific project recommendations. If your town does not have one yet, go to http://lcrpc.org/uploads/visual_edit/p98218activecommunitiesconf13d1.pdf for suggestions on how to create a local bicycle and pedestrian plan.
