UPDATE: Route 1 paving work for Rockport, Edgecomb, Newcastle begins in July

UPDATE: The start date for this project has been pushed to Sunday, July 18, according to The Maine Department of Transportation, in a news release.

KNOX AND LINCOLN COUNTIES — The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing paving work on parts of Route 1 in Edgecomb, Newcastle, and Rockport. This project is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 12 and be finished by Friday, August 13. 

There are two separate parts of the Rockport project: one work area begins just north of the Rockland town line and extends north for approximately 1.2 miles and the other work area begins just north of the intersection with Rockville Street and extends north for 2.5 miles.

The project in Edgecomb and Newcastle begins almost 1.5 miles east of the Wiscasset town line and extends northeast for approximately 2.8 miles.

Work will be night work, conducted between Sunday evenings and Friday mornings. Drivers should expect traffic to be reduced to a single lane during work hours.

The contractor on this project is All States Materials Group.
