Volunteer for Midcoast Conservancy on MLK Day

Fri, 01/18/2019 - 8:00am

On Monday, Jan. 21, Midcoast Conservancy will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day at its Hidden Valley Nature Center. Volunteers are needed to help get local kids outside and connected to the natural world using the quality outdoor gear (skis, bikes, snowshoes) that Midcoast Conservancy has for the community to use in its Outdoor Adventure programs.

Midcoast Conservancy is committed to getting kids and their families outside for healthy recreation. By removing the barriers of access to gear, access to instruction and access to trails, the Outdoor Adventure programming helps local communities and youth recognize the benefits of a physically active lifestyle while connecting to the natural world. The MLK Day event will also increase community awareness of the gear and resources that are available to everyone in the Midcoast Maine area.

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 2 pm at HVNC, located at 131 Egypt Road in Jefferson. Anyone interested should go to the All For Good website, at https://www.allforgood.org/projects/o83N0aQ5, to register as a volunteer. Once at HVNC, AmeriCorps members will be on hand to set up groups, fit volunteers with skis, snowshoes or bikes and conduct an orientation. Call Midcoast Conservancy with any questions: info@midcoastconservancy.org or (207) 389-5150.
