This week at the Harbor Theater
“Downton Abbey: The Grande Finale” - “PG; 2 hours, 4 minutes” - In this final cinematic chapter, the Crawley family gathers at Downton Abbey as the winds of change sweep through their world. As World War II looms on the horizon, the Crawleys must decide how to preserve their legacy while embracing the inevitable changes that will define their future. Lady Mary faces difficult choices about the future of the estate, Edith steps into a new chapter of independence, and the staff downstairs navigate opportunities beyond the Abbey walls. Filled with elegance, wit, heartbreak, and hope, this finale offers a poignant and unforgettable farewell to the beloved family and household that captivated audiences for more than a decade. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2 p.m. (OCAP), Thursday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m.
“Freakier Friday” - (PG; 1 hour, 51 minutes) - The all-new sequel to the beloved body-swap comedy. Chaos gets turned up a notch when multiple generations of the Coleman family suddenly find themselves walking in each other’s shoes—literally. When Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (Lindsay Lohan) reunite for a family celebration, a mysterious twist of fate causes not only mother and daughter to switch bodies again, but also brings Anna’s teenage daughter and Tess’s free-spirited mother into the mix. With four women juggling swapped identities, careers, romances, and high school drama, the result is a hilariously unpredictable chain of misunderstandings and heartfelt discoveries.
As the family scrambles to undo the curse before it’s too late, they must learn to appreciate one another’s struggles and strengths in a way only possible by living them. Packed with sharp humor, heartfelt moments, and wild body-swap scenarios, ‘Freakier Friday’ proves that sometimes the only way to understand each other is to spend a day in each other’s life—no matter how freaky it gets. Plays at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26; Saturday, Sept. 27; Monday, September 29; Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 2, 7 p.m. See it at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 1 (OCAP).
“Freakier Friday feels genuinely restorative, not just for Lohan’s reputation, but for the inner child who once loved movies like this, delighting in silly tropes like food fights, hunks tossing their hair in slow-motion and makeover montages.” – Katie Walsh, Tribune News Source
