"Downton Abbey - The Grand Finale" - (PG; 2 hours, 3 minutes) - The cinematic return of the global phenomenon, follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s. When Mary finds herself at the center of a public scandal and the family faces financial trouble, the entire household grapples with the threat of social disgrace. The Crawleys must embrace change as the staff prepares for a new chapter with the next generation leading Downton Abbey into the future. "La Sonnambula" -Met Live in HD - (Bellini; 3 hours, 15 minutes – one intermission) with pre-opera talk. A new production playing as an encore only on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. Nadine Sierra summits another peak of the soprano repertoire as Amina, who sleepwalks her way into audiences’ hearts in Bellini’s poignant tale of love lost and found. In his new production, Rolando Villazón—the tenor who has embarked on a brilliant second career as a director—retains the opera’s original setting in the Swiss Alps but uses its somnambulant plot to explore the emotional and psychological valleys of the mind. Tenor Xabier Anduaga co-stars as Amina’s fiancé, Elvino, alongside soprano Sydney Mancasola as her rival, Lisa, and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Count Rodolfo. Playing Sat Nov 1. "The Thin Man" - (1934; 1 hour, 31 minutes) - The first film in Lincoln Theater’s Classic Film Club, Stars & Noirs. The recently divorced Clyde Wynant discovers that his new girlfriend has stolen $50,000 and is carrying on with other men. Not long afterward, he disappears. Anxious to locate her father, Wynant's daughter goes to private detective Nick Charles for help. William Powell and Myrna Loy play an iconic screen team in the first film in a blockbuster six-pic franchise. Plays Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at regular film prices, and free for Classic Film Club Members.
