Best get to Hannaford or Shaw’s and pick up what you’ll be needing to ride out the snowstorm expected to hit our region around 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19. The winter storm watch from the National Weather Service is in effect Saturday night, Jan. 19 through the evening on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Travel is expected to be very difficult to dangerous on Sunday. There is the potential for significant accumulations. It will be bitterly cold this weekend - remember to check on family, friends and neighbors to make sure they are all right and are warm and keep your pets indoors.

Here is an updated report from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 12. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north after midnight.

Saturday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 18. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday night: Snow, mainly after 8 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 11. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Sunday: Snow. High near 21. Blustery, with a northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Sunday night: Snow, mainly before 1 a.m. Low around 8. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

M.L.King Day: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 14. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a low of around 3 degrees.
