Westport Island comp plan committee requests $5k
On April 26, the Westport Island comprehensive plan committee agreed to seek $5,000 from the town’s voters.
Meeting secretary Jeff Tarbox reported that Chair Bob Mooney suggested the amount for mapping, creating overlays, consulting, printing and distributing required surveys, and administrative costs ..."
The request came from a discussion at the committee’s April 19 meeting during which various expenses were considered.
The annual town meeting is June 23.
Selectmen appointed Ron Stoodley to the comp plan committee. Joanna Jones has expressed an interest in the committee’s work and will be suggested to the selectmen for their approval.
Following up a discussion at the April 23 selectmen meeting, Mooney asked how to designate residents who assisted the committee by serving as experts in various areas.
Members discussed three types of memberships that might be created to set expectations for participation. These include a sworn member who has been sworn in, attends all meetings and regularly contributes to the plan by completing assignments; an associate member who would be sworn in and offer expertise without attending all meetings; and a contributor, someone interested in the plan’s development and who occasionally contributes to its content.
Members also discussed the accessibility of the previous plan and how to format the new one.
