Tonight, the Wiscasset School Committee is set to review a letter from Westport Island about a possible upcoming dialogue.

As part of Westport Island’s work toward a possible withdrawal from Regional School Unit 12, it needs to show Maine's education commissioner that the town has someplace to educate students who aren't accepted into other schools, the town’s withdrawal committee chairman Gerald Bodmer said March 25.

The committee is seeking a 10-year, “guaranteed educational home,” for all students in grades 9 through 12, Bodmer writes in a March 4 letter to Wiscasset School Committee Chairman Glen Craig.

“We look forward to initiating discussions with your school board and outlining our continuing education relationship,” the letter states.

Also tonight, Wiscasset's school committee plans to take up proposed committee policies.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Wiscasset High School library.
