Wiscasset downtown project update
The following work is anticipated in Wiscasset through Sept. 13, according to a Maine Department of Transportation email:
–Installing granite bollards behind the curb line between Middle and Water streets on both sides of the street. Bollards will also go behind the curb line from Water Street to Railroad Avenue.
–Work to repair the stairs next to Trifles and next to Rock Paper Scissors. Repointing of the granite cobblestone wall on both sides of the street.
–Continue raising drainage and utility structures to the final grade. All structures will be paved back in preparation for the final layer of pavement.
–Tentatively, excavation, gravel placement and final grading of the sidewalk from Mammy's Bakery to Fort Hill Street.
–Cleaning Route 1, Water Street. Railroad Avenue and the parking lot in preparation for the final layer of pavement.
–Final layer of pavement on Route 1, Water Street, Railroad Avenue and the parking lot.
–Tentatively, removing the rest of the brick sidewalk and excavating and placing gravel between Middle and Water streets on the Treats, BIRCH and Rock Paper Scissors side.
Work is done between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Depending on the type of work, expect noise and bright lights..
