Wiscasset’s annual Halloween event Nightmare on Federal Street went on during a break in the rain that had plagued Halloween festivities elsewhere in Lincoln County.

Parks and Recreation Department officials kept the event outdoors after weather reports showed a window in the rain and wind around 4 p.m., when the parade was supposed to line up. Besides organizers and school personnel, the event drew 140 people including children and parents. The parade proceeded down Federal Street to the block party a few blocks away, where there was a costume contest scheduled along with music, activities and snacks.
