The Chewonki Foundation is a major employer in Wiscasset and a significant asset to the town, Selectmen’s Chairman Ed Polewarczyk said while presenting an award to the foundation on March 18.
Chewonki considers itself a partner with the town and its schools, Chewonki’s president Willard Morgan said.
“Although we happen to be at the corner of the town border, we like to be at the center of the community,” he said.
Chewonki has 65 year-round employees and more in the summer, Morgan said.
The presentation was part of Tuesday night’s selectmen’s meeting. Chewonki received a “business recognition” award.
