With help from public works, Wiscasset police Sept. 12 harvested and removed 53 marijuana plants from a Pooler Pit Road property, Police Chief Larry Hesseltine said.

The homeowner, Ronald Gonyou Jr., 46, of Wiscasset was summonsed on a Class D charge of Cultivating Marijuana and has an Oct. 31 court date, Hesseltine said in response to questions from the Wiscasset Newspaper after a department Facebook post.

“If you are going to grow marijuana for personal use, please be sure to follow the rules and regulations,” Thursday’s post states. It includes a link to a Maine statute limiting home cultivation of marijuana for personal adult use to three mature plants and 12 immature plants.

Officer Cory Hubert is the investigating officer, Hesseltine said.
