Wiscasset Police Officer Jonathan Barnes and girlfriend Kianna Santos traveled to Bangor last week to represent the department in paying its respects to Hancock County Deputy Luke Gross.

A department Facebook post stated, “Listening to the stories of both (Gross’s) personal and professional life makes us all want to strive to be better. Not just as officers but as human beings. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends. Rest easy, Sir, we have the watch from here.”

According to a Sept. 27 press release from Gov. Janet Mills’s office, Gross was struck and killed by a motor vehicle Sept. 23 while he was investigating a call for a vehicle off the road on Route 3 in Trenton.
