Wiscasset selectmen eye policy
A possible new plan for one of Wiscasset's key money wells will be up for discussion at the Board of Selectmen's meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the town office's municipal meeting room.
Selectmen will be talking about a policy for the town's fund balance, used annually for offsetting taxes. The board has been taking less and less from it in recent years at tax time. The aim has been to reduce dependence on the fund balance, Town Manager Laurie Smith has said.
Also Tuesday, the board will honor the Cooper-DiPerri Scholarship Fund with the 2013 Spirit of America volunteer service award. The fund helps provide access to Wiscasset Community Center programs for people who can't afford the fees.
In other agenda items, selectmen will learn what prices have been bid on a number of upcoming buys, including a half-ton truck for the fire department.
