Wiscasset Senior Center: Be a part of the future
Seven people from the Wiscasset Senior Center traveled up to the Richmond Senior Center May 19. It is always a good time to get together with the Richmond Senior Center members for a few friendly games of cribbage.
I wanted to go, but decided to attend the Wiscasset Senior Center Trustee meeting instead. For the most part, trustee meetings are open to the members. I like to keep up with what is happening and what is being planned. As a member of the current publicity committee, I find it a great way to gather info to get to the membership. If you are interested in the detail workings of the trustees I encourage you to attend.
If you are a registered voter in Wiscasset please attend the upcoming town meeting and later vote on the school budget, etc.
There is so much potential in Wiscasset including the new school system, the Community Center and the Senior Center. Be a part of the future by voting and attending the town meeting. There are challenges ahead, but with everyone involved we can make the future bright.
Last Thursday we again had a good number at the cribbage tournament. For two weeks in a row we have had 28 players. Thursday Linden Simmons won all the games and Stuart Wyman won all but the last game, and lost that one by only one pin to come in second.
Jane LaBreck came in third and was just 10 pins off the maximum score of 847. There were several in the 820’s which usually guarantees a top three finish but not this week. Cards were running good for many players that night. Of course they were not running good for me. I finished last with the lowest score.
The cribbage tournament winners on May 20 were Betty Sawyer first, Barbara Chubbuck second, Leol Corson third and Marge Pooler had the low score. The cribbage tournament winners on Thursday May 22 were Linden Simmons first, Stuart Wyman second, Jane LaBreck third, Doc Schilke low score and Dick Grondin, Jane LaBreck and Nancy Schilke tied for the high hand.
