Withdrawal Committee seeks input from parents. students
The Westport Island Withdrawal Committee met at the Town Office Monday evening and discussed their communication plan to keep the citizens informed. They determined that they were doing all they could by using the newspapers, emails, the town website and postings at the town office.
The committee is especially interested in hearing the thoughts and concerns of the parents of students on Westport Island.
In their effort to finalize a withdrawal agreement from RSU 12, the committee has requested meetings with school units AOS 98, AOS 93 and RSU 1 as well as the deputy commissioner of education and so far have scheduled meetings with all but one.
The committee decided to develop a matrix of the 11 required items of the withdrawal plan and compare it to a withdrawal plan used successfully by the town of Starks, to use as a tool to identify and barriers or issues to completion of the Westport Island plan.
