The Lincoln County Office of Emergency Management has renewed our commitment towards promoting safety for all our school students. Our emergency planning efforts are targeting the strategic information required if there is an incident at a school.

Recently a letter was sent to all schools in Lincoln County, both public and private, requesting a copy of floor plans and a current contact list. This key information identifies the school’s incident command staff personnel and their emergency phone number while floor plans provide and “insiders” view of the school for law enforcement.

To date, approximately 55 percent of the schools in Lincoln County have provided this information with more arriving daily.

Emergency Management is also working with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to obtain photographs of the school buildings inside and out. These collective pieces of information will be placed on a secured fileserver directory accessible to Emergency Management, 9-1-1 Dispatchers, local Law Enforcement and other first responders as needed.

We are asking all schools to consider sharing this valuable information. It is one more critical resource that will assist our first responders in resolving incidents quickly and effectively.
