Bake sale at Ames April 6
The Wiscasset Lion’s Club will have a bake sale on Saturday, April 6, at Ames True Value on Route 1, in Wiscasset, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., to collect funds for the “Feed Our Scholars” program. After the bake sale, Lion Club members and program volunteers plan to attend the public supper being held at St Phillips Church.
The “Feed Our Scholars” is a program to help school children who rely on school cafeterias for their most nutritious meal of the day. In some cases, they are also provided with food to eat on the weekend. The program also provides certain children with a food filled backpack each Friday to take home.
The fund raiser is part of the club’s mission to serve their community, meet humanitarian needs, with a focus on helping the sight and hearing impaired.
The Lions also collects eyeglasses and cell phones which are used to provide help those in need who have eye and hearing deficiencies.
The club collects eyeglasses of all types. Donation boxes can be found at the Wiscasset Town Office, Woolwich Town Office, and at the Sheepscot Eye Associates, 165 Bath Road.
