Day of the daffodils
Wiscasset Appearance of the Town Committee member Terry Heller said Oct. 29, volunteers will be on the town common Tuesday, Nov. 5 planting 2,000 daffodils. It’s an all day effort and more people are welcome to help, Heller said.
Heller wrote in a text, “Want something fun and different? Just show up and we’ll put you to work!”
Heller said yellow flags mark where the daffodils will be planted. “On the courthouse hill, there will be a wave, and there will also be daffys lining each side of the sidewalk in straight lines up the middle of the common!”
She said the plantings are happening statewide that day, and participants will send photos and statements to a central reporting place in Portland. Volunteers in Wiscasset will include several of her fellow Garden Club of Wiscasset members, including Lisa Freeman who is heading up the plantings with her, Heller said. The two and other people have contributed to the project and The First National Bank is a sponsor, Heller said.
