Despite the expected wintery weather mix, those who attended Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce’s ninth annual dinner enjoyed the food, the venue, and the celebration of those honored this year.
The Montsweag Farmhouse Restaurant hosted this event and the space was lovely, decorated tastefully and enhanced by flowers from the Garden Club of Wiscasset, Water Lily Flowers and Gifts and Susan Robson. The fireplace added a warm and welcoming ambience as attendees enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and mingled with newly arriving guests.
Jean Beattie Flynn, outgoing chair of the chamber, greeted the packed room with a listing of the accomplishments of the past year and the importance of the chamber in the community.
Awards were presented to Volunteer of the Year Norma Gordon, with Sheila Sawyer and Vickie Hersom the presenters; Growth & Development Award, Wayne Wescott, Montsweag Farm, Jean Beattie Flynn presenter; Creamery Pier Volunteers Award, Nancy Roby and Josh Fitterling, Russ Cloutier presenter; and Lifetime Achievement Award, Robert Fairfield, Monique McRae presenter. All recipients received U.S. Senate Certificates from Sen. Angus King presented by Scott Wilkinson, regional representative.
New nominations to the board were unanimously voted in: Sheila Sawyer (Carl MP Larrabee Agency), Duane Goud (Wiscasset Community Center), and Betsy Kyle (White Pine Home); and Pam Brackett was renewed.

The pie auction was the highlight of the evening with Dave Sawyer, auctioneer. Bidding was fast and furious with Devin Deabler from Horch Roofing bidding his total 50/50 winning on one particular, delicious item! The pies were donated by many community members, with over $1,500 realized for the WACC Scholarship fund.
