Bruce C. Engert, age 80, died at his home in Boothbay Harbor, on May 10, 2024.

Born on March 13, 1944, Bruce was a son to Frederick Burbank Engert, Jr. and Elsa Holmestrahm. He attended local Wiscasset Schools and graduated from Wiscasset High School. He then went on to attend Maine Maritime Academy.

After his time at Maine Maritime, Bruce enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the military, Bruce worked for Allstate Insurance for over 35 years and was #1 top producer in the country for the entire Allstate portfolio, and several times was in the top five. Bruce was also a Code Enforcement Officer for Pittston, Alna, and Wiscasset. He was extremely committed to his work. He often would put work before anything else in his life. He was known for getting nearly every certification for Code Enforcement and continuing his education in any way he could to be the most efficient in his duties.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, uncle, and brother and would do anything to provide for his family. He was an avid pilot and flew for Northeast Yellowbird and learned how to fly WWII BT-13 Trainers. He truly could fly anything.

Not only was he occupied with family, his work, and flying, but he also was an active 32nd Degree Master Mason for the Scarborough Lodge. Bruce was never an idle man.

Other than his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his wife Mary-Ellen Engert, and brother Frederick ‘Buster’ Engert.

He is survived by his son Bruce E. Engert and his partner, Darlene Loewe, of Boothbay Harbor; favorite little girl whom he thought of as a grandchild, Aubree Lynn; and his niece and nephew, Jacqueline and Banks of Bowie, Maryland. He also loved his best friend, his cat, Keepie.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.
