Sen. Johnson receives perfect score on labor record
Sen. Chris Johnson of Somerville has received a 100 percent rating from the Maine State Employees Union for his support of working families during the 126th Legislature.
“My conversations with state employees throughout the district have reinforced my opinion that state workers are dedicated and hardworking,” said Johnson. “Anything we can do to make their service to the people of Maine more effective benefits us all.”
Johnson is one of 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.
During the 2013 legislative session, Johnson supported the bipartisan, responsible budget crafted by the legislature, and voted to prevent a state shutdown by overriding the governor’s veto of the budget.
Johnson also supported bills to raise the minimum wage and increase access to affordable health care and low-cost prescription drugs, and opposed harmful so-called “right-to-work” bills, which would have weakened collective bargaining rights for Maine workers.
The Legislature will reconvene in January 2014.
