Parking talks November 13
In what is expected to be a lively debate, Twin Villages residents are invited Wednesday to talk about a parking lot.
More specifically, what to do with the large municipal parking lot and more importantly, how to pay for it.
The towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle will host the 5 to 7 p.m. discussion at Great Salt Bay Community School to discuss the future of the lot.
Town Manager Matt Lutkus said earlier in the fall that the town's large free parking lot, which borders the waterfront, would need to have major work done to it.
One possible method of paying for it included implementing paid parking, although nothing has yet been decided.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Damariscotta's Board of Selectmen approved, 4-1, the hiring of Portland-based Planning Decisions President Mark Eyerman to facilitate the meeting.
The second meeting, which will begin at the same time and be at the same place, will be Thursday, Nov. 21.
