Wiscasset Feed Our Scholars ‘Set for Success’ event Aug. 17
Sunday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m., Set for Success (S4S) will once again throw a spirited event at Wiscasset Community Center to celebrate the community and its upcoming school year. All of Wiscasset's students and their families are invited to pick up their teacher-recommended school supplies and a red and black backpack to put them in. At the same time, people can check out many community support groups’ displays, get a haircut, find some new-to-you school clothes, have lunch, and check out the touch-a-truck area.
Wiscasset students, grades Pre-K to grade 12, are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to ready themselves for school year 2025/26. Last year, S4S expanded its reach to provide for the entire school population after years of supplying only to the lower grades. Homeschooled students who would go to Wiscasset schools are also welcome to join in the event.
If you would like to sponsor the cost of a child’s school supplies or otherwise donate so that Feed Our Scholars/Set for Success may purchase supply items, send a check for whatever you feel comfortable with to St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, ME 04578. Please write Set For Success in the memo line. St. Philip’s Church is a 501(c)(3) organization.
In-kind donations of supplies are welcome and can be dropped at First Congregational Church of Wiscasset or St. Philip’s Church. Or check out the Amazon wish list at tinyurl.com/ and do your shopping there. What could be easier than that?
Feed Our Scholars/Set For Success will be taking part in Wormfest on May 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Wiscasset waterfront. In the food court area, the group will be selling baked goods and displaying informational materials. Come on by, purchase goodies, and find out more about the effort to provide nutrition to elementary students and school supplies toward support of student learning.
