Hope Lincoln Frey
Hope Lincoln Frey, 94, died December 17, 2013, of failing health. She was born in 1919 in Providence, R.I. to the late James and Adeline Lincoln.
Hope grew up in Rhode Island and New Hampshire and attended Enfield High School, Keene State College and Simmons College. She was a head librarian at Dartmouth College for many years and married Albert W. Frey, a Dartmouth College professor.
Al and Hope retired to Dresden in the late 60s after living several years in Pittsburgh, Pa. Al passed away in 1987. Hope sold their Dresden home in the late 1990s and spent several years in Arizona and North Carolina. She then moved to Albany, N.Y. to be near her niece Andy. A job relocation required Hope, Andy and her husband Bruce to move to Idaho where Hope entered assisted living.
Hope enjoyed collecting antiques and books, sculpting and sketching and entertaining. She was very proud of the pre-Revolutionary War home and property that she restored and decorated. She often spoke fondly of her time in Hanover and Dresden.
Hope was predeceased by her older brother Edward Lincoln and his wife, her older sister Janet Tash and her husband, and brother-in-law Allen Hooker
She is survived by her younger sister Anne Hooker of Pittsfield, N.H., niece Andrea (Andy) H. Smith and her husband Bruce of Canton, N.Y. (recently of Idaho), nephew Stuart (Jeb) Hooker of Pittsfield, N.H., nephews Thomas and Timothy Tash of Arizona, and several grand nieces and nephews.
