Old fire truck will go to the highest bidder
Up for discussion at this evening's Woolwich board of selectmen’s meeting will be the bids for the department's old fire truck. The town's 1991 fire truck was taken out of service and has been replaced by a 2006 truck that was purchased from the town of Gray's fire department.
The people of Woolwich requested that Board Chairman David King place a bid notice in local newspapers in the hopes it would fetch a fair price.
According to Town Administrator Lynette Eastman, the board has received 17 bids. “One will hopefully be a good one.” She said the town has the right to reject all the bids if they feel none of them is high enough.
Other topics at tonight’s meeting will include reports from Road Commissioner Jack Shaw, EMS Director William Longley Jr., Fire Chief Geoffrey McCarren and Code Officer Bruce Engert.
The meeting takes place this evening, Monday, March 3 at 6 p.m. at the Woolwich Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
