Rollover knocks out power in Lincoln County
A 29-year-old Boothbay man driving a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck rolled his vehicle at the intersection of Route 27 and Parsons Point Road in Edgecomb on March 24, knocking out power to the surrounding towns in Lincoln County.
Jesse Erskine of Boothbay was heading southbound on Route 27 at approximately 6:15 p.m when he reportedly fell asleep, veered off the road, and clipped a utility pole.
Erskine did not appear severely injured, Edgecomb Fire Chief Roy Potter said. “He extricated himself and was up walking around, complaining of neck pains,” Potter said.
Erskine originally didn't want to be transported to the hospital, according to Potter. However, Wiscasset Ambulance Service did transport Erskine to a hospital at 6:45 p.m.
Central Maine Power workers were called in to restore power. CMP's website reported 849 outages in Lincoln County at the time of the accident, but power was restored by 7:45 p.m.
A portion of Route 27 was closed off, with traffic detoured to the McKay Road and River Road. All emergency units cleared the scene by 8 p.m.
