Damariscotta Hardware sponsors Ladies’ Day
Damariscotta Hardware will be hosting “Ladies’ Day” on Saturday, April 12. What began as a “Ladies’ Night” was so popular, it has evolved over the past couple years into a day-long affair.
Susan Geyer, part-owner of Damariscotta Hardware, said the event will include fun activities, refreshments, 15 to 50 percent discounts for ladies, hourly door prizes, giveaways and some pampering.
Lincoln County Animal Shelter representatives Betsy Pratt and Carrie Koskela will be there with a dog and a cat who will be up for adoption.
According to Geyer, there will be informative and educational presentations by vendors, customers and staff throughout the day, and manufacturers representatives to answer questions.
Girl Scouts have been invited to have a bake sale and the Lincoln County Little League will be having a tag day to collect money for the teams.
A long-term customer, Rick Skoglund, will give a talk on attracting birds to back yards through different types of seeds and feeders.
A vendor from Coast of Maine gardening products will explain “why plants love lobsters.” Geyer said that a Coast of Maine fertilizer made with lobster shells is one of Damariscotta Hardware's biggest sellers.
Representatives from Scott products, Pratt & Lambert paint, Shelley's Flowers and Stihl Power Equipment will be on hand to answer questions geared toward women.
There will be manicures from Nails by Gail, jewelry cleaning with Stars Fine Jewelry, hand treatments, a wine tasting presented by Cellar Door Winery, candy from Safe Harbor Confections, and great books from Maine Coast Book Shop.
Topping off the day will be a fashion show of sorts by employees at the hardware store. Geyer said it has become a tradition for employees to fashion hats, neckties and even a dress from duck tape and wear the garments on Ladies’ Day.
