LCHA calls for work day volunteers at Pownalborough Court House
Due to tree cutting and trimming around the historic Pownalborough Court House and cemetery this past fall, there's a lot do. Come for the whole day or come for an hour; all kinds of help are needed.
Outside cleanup will be tackled on two work days: Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For information or to let someone know you're coming, call Dave Probert at 207-737-4959.
Lincoln County Historical Association’s Pownalborough Court House is only pre-Revolutionary court house in Maine. The structure still stands on its original site on the banks of the Kennebec River in Dresden. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse is a remarkable example of colonial New England architecture.
The Lincoln County Historical Association is an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset. For more information about volunteer opportunities at any of the sites, please visit www.lincolncountyhistory.org.
