SVCA celebrates 45 years with anniversary poster
The Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, founded in 1969, is celebrating its 45th year. Kicking off the celebrations will be the unveiling of SVCA’s Anniversary Poster at an artist reception and wine tasting at Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta on Friday, June 6, from 4-6 p.m.
Artist and Sheepscot watershed resident Jon Luoma volunteered his time and talents creating a painting of the Sheepscot River that has been printed as a limited edition poster. “I live near the Sheepscot River, paddle and ski on it, walk to it, watch birds nearby, and paint it,” Luoma said. “The Sheepscot is the center of a long forested wildlife corridor running from the sea to its inland headwaters. It's a real pleasure to collaborate with SVCA in its work protecting this beautiful river valley.”
The 45th Anniversary Poster will be available for purchase at Rising Tide throughout the month of June with proceeds to benefit the work of SVCA. Stop in to pick up a poster and view other beautiful works by Luoma. His art includes brush and ink, woodcuts, and paintings in watercolor and Chinese inks, much of it inspired by the beauty of Maine.
