Yarn at Story Time

Jon Klassen is a talented author and illustrator and we enjoyed two of his books this week at the Wiscasset Library’s Story Hour.
The 2013 Caldecott winner, “This Is Not My Hat,” is a clever story about a very small fish who sees a much bigger fish wearing a hat that is way too small for him. The small fish thinks it would fit him much better so he steals it! The small fish’s plan to get away with it is foiled by a double talking crab.
“Extra Yarn” (a 2013 Caldecott Honor Award) by Mac Barnett, is illustrated by Jon Klassen and tells a story of happiness in being different and also how stealing does not prevail in the end.
After the stories, everyone tried the craft of making yarn pompoms and decorating a yarn box for storage.
Story Time takes place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome to enjoy great books with activities to follow.
