Senator Johnson to host forums on governor’s proposed budget
The public is invited to attend community forums to learn more about the governor’s proposed state budget and its impact on Maine residents, municipalities, businesses, and organizations.
Senator Chris Johnson will host the forums in an effort to hear from constituents within the region.
“There are many changes in the proposed budget, many of which have severe consequences to the people of Maine,” said Senator Johnson. “I welcome an opportunity to hear from communities and residents I am elected to represent.”
Governor Paul LePage submitted his state budget proposal at the beginning of the year and the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee is now reviewing the $6.5 billion document. After a thorough process of months of public hearings, public testimony, and work sessions, the budget-writing committee will provide its recommendation to the full Legislature for consideration.
The forums will be held at the Wiscasset Town Office, 51 Bath Road, on Monday, March 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and the Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main Street, on Wednesday, April 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Additional community forums may be held in the coming months.
