Easter events are hopping at The Animal House
The Animal House in Damariscotta has a day of events on Saturday, March 26 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in celebration of Easter.
The second annual Easter Egg Hunt will be available all day, for dogs to sniff out Easter eggs filled with goodies. Prizes, including toys, treats and chews, will also be offered for those dogs that find special eggs throughout the store.
Team Garron will also be hosting an Easter bake sale to support the Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes.
Homemade pies, cakes, brownies, cupcakes and breads will be available with any donation to the team, who walks in the March for Babies on May 1 in Portland, in memory of Garron Martin. Raffle tickets for the opportunity to win a $500 gift certificate to The Animal House will also be available for purchase.
Team "Owl Will Love You Forever" will also be joining Team Garron at The Animal House and will be selling custom popcorn from Coastal Maine Popcorn Company.
Garron was the son of Aubrey and Dan Martin, owners of The Animal House, and was born prematurely in 2009. He passed away only a few hours after his birth.
Every year, Team Garron fundraises in his memory and to date has raised over $15,000. The Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes works to prevent prematurity, birth defects and neonatal death in Maine through education, research, programming and advocacy.
One hundred percent of donations go to fund prenatal care, smoking cessation programs, NICU (neonatal intensive care) Family Support, CenteringPregancy, and Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait campaigns and programming and offered in hospitals throughout Maine.
