'Glimpse of Glidden Street' for St. Andrew’s outreach
St. Andrew’s Design Showhouse and Glimpse of Glidden Street is only a week away. Interior designers and others are painting and arranging rooms in the church’s Parish House in Newcastle for the community outreach fundraiser for the year. Scheduled for Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the festivities will include tours of the Arts and Crafts architectural gem of the church itself, visits to select buildings and grounds on historic Glidden Street, a silent auction, concerts in the church and a preview party.
Fourteen area designers will be showcasing their wares in ten rooms, among them The 1839 House, Sproul’s Furniture, interior designer Jim Van Dyke, Salt Bay Trading Company, designer Juliana Hoffmann, and Moulinette and BIRCH Home Furnishings and Gifts, both shops in Wiscasset. The 1839 House is staging an “Art of Dining” room with a one-of-a-kind handmade table and walls decorated with art from the Kefauver Gallery.
All proceeds from ticket sales to the Showhouse and the silent auction will go to the church’s 18 Outreach partners, which include the Lincoln County Energy Fund, New Hope for Women, CHIP and Habitat for Humanity. The gala preview party will be held Sept. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this, which will be limited, will be $25 per person or $40 a couple; and for the Showhouse from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, they are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; all tickets will be available at the following locations: Skidompha Library, Nobleboro Antique Exchange, at St. Andrew’s Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at BIRCH at 60 Main St. in Wiscasset, and in front of Sherman’s Bookstore in Damariscotta Sept. 23 and 24. There will be a preview of the silent auction set up at Skidompha two weeks before the Showhouse begins.
