Volunteer at historic Damariscotta house
The Chapman-Hall House Stewardship Committee is inviting anyone interested to come and learn about the various ways to enjoy volunteering at this special historic site.
The house, dated to 1754, is the oldest in Damariscotta. Some volunteers are docents and conduct tours of the house and ell, sharing with visitors information about the home life of the early residents of Midcoast Maine and other aspects of local history. Others do research to discover more details about the Chapman and Hall families and events of the time in which they lived. Some volunteers enjoy helping with special programs. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Natalie House at 563-8441.
Each summer season the Chapman-Hall House sponsors a number of events. This summer there will be a Blacksmithing Demonstration on June 24, “Summer with the Past” children’s week from June 26-30, Children’s Weekend on July 1 and 2, and “The Beautiful Sounds – R. P. Hale in Concert” July 16.
Chapman-Hall House is located at 270 Main Street. It is one of three historic sites under the care of the Lincoln County Historical Association, a non-profit organization that also provides stewardship for the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
