Kipp Brown of Milton, Massachusetts is trying to identify the people in this photo. He scanned it from an 8.5-inch x 11-inch photo that had "Stephen Rubicam Photography" on the back of it. He sent it to Mr. Rubicam in East Boothbay and Brown said he was very helpful, but he was unable to identify any of the people. In his note to the newspaper, Brown wrote: "The photo belonged to my great-aunt, Mrs. Norma (Bruce) Stevenson Clark, married to my great-uncle Walter, and "Clark" was her married name when she re-married after Walter passed away. I inherited her collection of photographs, but most of them are from her original family -- the Bruces. I'm hoping to find a relative of hers on the Bruce side who might like to have them. Aunt Norma had no children of her own, and none of the remaining Stevensons/Browns here in the Boston area have any information on any surviving Bruces. My hope is that someone will recognize someone in the photo (maybe themself!) as belonging to the Bruce side of the family. If it...

Learning about Maine state government is an important part of the fourth grade social studies curriculum. How can we make sure our students get a hands-on look at government in action? By taking a tour of the Maine State House while it is in session. State Representative Jeffery Hanley met Wiscasset Elementary School fourth graders and gave each student a wonderful information packet. They toured the State House and were part of the audience in the balcony as they watched our lawmakers in action. We thank Mr. Hanley, and we hope students return to the Maine State House and Museum with their families this summer so they can share with them all that they have learned.

The Hesper, a sculpture designed and built by artist Nick Dalton of Wiscasset, was recently finished on the lawn alongside Wiscasset’s memorial pier. The work was funded through a “Kindling Fund” grant administered through SPACE Gallery of Portland. It’s six-foot high, by 24-foot long, crafted from PVC pipe and includes a drinking fountain. A dedication is planned during Wiscasset’s first Summer Art Walk, Thursday evening, June 29. Dalton hopes his handiwork will bring back memories of the Hesper and Luther Little, the schooners that were once grounded along the waterfront. PHIL DI VECE/Wiscasset Newspaper
Mrs. Burgess led the grade 1 and 1/2 classes in a Paint Day. The kids had a great time learning about acrylic paints, canvases and different brushes. They followed step-by-step instructions and then were creative with the trees they created. There were lots of Oooos and Ahhhs as they watched their paintings come to life. Courtesy of Cindy Collamore
