Westport Island favors school budget

Westport Island voters favored passage of the Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit 12 budget, according to an email from Town Clerk Gaye Wagner. The vote ran 138-18, with one blank ballot.
All the member towns’ results combined determine if the budget passes.
Voters kept Ross Norton on as third selectman with 134 votes. He was uncontested on the ballot. Ten write-in votes were cast, according to the email. Residents went with Susan Stires over Richard DeVries, 127-30, for a three-year term on the school district’s board. DeVries won the one-year term that was also on the ballot, with 33 votes. Stires got 19 votes for the one -year term.
On the state’s technology bond issue, the town was in favor, 96-60.
