Skyler and Devon of Wiscasset Elemementary School completed "Baby Brains," a summer challenge, and practiced reading and math for 30 minutes four times a week all summer. They planned their celebration and had a pajama party after school with Ms. Stover to celebrate their hard work. Boothbay Webelo Pack 271 joined with other Maine Boy Scouts for a Camporee at Camp Hinds in Raymond the weekend of Oct. 20-22. The boys earned their whittling chips and participated in archery, cooking, drone racing, fire building (from the photo it looks like that went more than a little okay!), first aid, and a Jamboree on the Air. A crew from the U.S. Coast Guard made good use of the summer-like weather Oct. 18 to remove seasonal navigation markers from the Sheepscot River. The buoys will be power-washed, repainted and returned to the river in time for next year’s pleasure boating season. PHIL DI VECE/Wiscasset Newspaper
The Garden Club of Wiscasset will meet Nov. 2 at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. The business meeting starts at 12:30 p.m. Aurelia Scott will present a program entitled "Alliums Alive! Growing Garlic, Chives, Scallions and Decorative Alliums in Flower Beds and Containers" at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be enjoyed after the program and the public is invited free of charge.
