George D. Richardson, Jr. issued a challenge to Westport Island residents at Monday’s selectmen’s meeting.

Richardson presented a photo he had taken with a new tree growing out of the hollow remains of a 14-foot pine tree. He wondered if anyone could spot the location. “The tree is clearly visible from Route 144 on the island. It’s not on the south and not on the north end,” he added.

The new tree growing out of the dead pine is six feet tall, making the overall height of both trees around 20 feet.
