Alna prepares to sell tax-acquired land
More than 113 acres could be up for sale in Alna in August. Five landlocked, tax-acquired properties appear in a sale notice the Alna Board of Selectmen approved June 14.
Selectmen did not predict how much the town might get for any of the properties. "The goal is to get them back on the tax roll," Second Selectman Jonathan Villeneuve said.
Board members agreed to have Town Clerk Amy Warner wait until mid-July to advertise the sale by sealed bid. Selectmen would need the bids by Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. They would open and review them at the town office that night at 6:30 p.m.
Plans called for the lots' former owners to have until June 20 to pay what they owe and regain their properties, town officials said.
The properties include a 14-acre parcel between Route 218 and West Alna Road assessed at $6,440; a 56-acre parcel on the Dresden line near Bailey Road assessed at $31,568; and three lots on the Wiscasset line. One of those is 9.5 acres, assessed at $4,370; another is 6 acres, assessed at $2,760; the third is 28 acres, assessed at $12,880.
