Coastal Senior College’s annual luncheon, traditionally an event featuring a speaker of note, will this year foray into a more engaging, interactive and cultural realm.

Planned for Friday, May 29 at the Samoset Inn in Rockport, the event will feature poet Ellen Goldsmith, a CSC instructor, and her sculptor husband Victor, who will present some of his works while Ellen will encourage guests to write some poetic lines inspired by the art. They will both speak briefly about the art and poetry after lunch.

Doors will open at 11 a.m., with socializing and perusing of the art before lunch at 12:30 p.m. Entrée choices are chicken piccata or Asian stir fry and the cost is $24 per person, with salad, dessert, coffee and gratuity included. There will be a cash bar. Registration for the event is from May 1 until May 22 and can be done by calling the CSC office at the University of Maine in Rockland at 1-800-286-1594.

The public is invited to come and meet CSC instructors and members, which number about 400 from Boothbay to Camden. The spring session is currently underway with 13 classes in Lincoln and Knox counties and a number of ongoing groups.
