Arnold D. McLain of Edgecomb died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born December 14, 1947, the son of Dana Prior McLain and Gwen (Stover) McLain. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.

Arnold worked many jobs, starting in a shipyard with his Dad, followed by lobstering, and then becoming a self-employed carpenter.

He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite spot was the Allagash River in Aroostook County.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Robert McLain, and his best friend, his yellow Lab Sophie.

Arnold will always be remembered by his family, Kimberly Lewis and her husband Jeff; Travis McLain of Edgewater, Fla.; stepchildren, Mike Gudroe and wife Sara, Darrell and Sarah Gudroe, and Karen Thompson, all of Boothbay; a nephew, Gavin McLain and family of Washington, Maine; grandchildren, Isaac Lewis, Whitney, Chelsea, Cameron and Ian McLain, and Gabe and Josiah Purin, Eli and Sophie Gudroe.

A celebration of life gathering is planned for the spring of 2013.
