Bake sale at Ames July 18 to benefit school supply event
Have a desire for something sweet? On Saturday, July 18 from 7:30 to 1:30, Set for Success (S4S) will host a bake sale at Ames Supply, Bath Road (Route One) in Wiscasset. All funds generated will be applied to S4S's school supply mission for Wiscasset students, grades Pre-K to 12. With increased costs of supplies, more funds need to be generated to purchase the necessary items.
To aid in accomplishing this, Set for Success is beseeching area bakers who might want to help by putting their skills to workpreparing some luscious goodies to donate to the cause. Please deliver them to St. Philip’s Hall, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, on Friday, July 17.Remember to list contents to help those with food sensitivities make appropriate choices.
On Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m., all Wiscasset school students and their families are invited to Wiscasset Community Center to celebrate community and the upcoming school year. Firstly, students are able to pick up their teacher-recommended school supplies. They are also offered a school pack to put their supplies in, or students can use their own backpack if that is preferred.At the same time, people can check out many community support groups’ informational displays, get a haircut, eyes checked, have lunch, and maybe even have a sweet treat on the way out the door.
If you would like to sponsor the cost of a child’s school supplies, or otherwise donate so that Feed Our Scholars/Set for Success may purchase the requested items, send a check for whatever you feel comfortable providing to St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, Maine 04578, with Set For Success in the memo line. St. Philip’s Church is a 501(c)(3) organization.
