Collision on Route 218
An Alna woman received “non-life-threatening injuries” in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cross Road and Route 218 Monday morning, a Lincoln County sheriff's sergeant said.
Ruth Gilbert, 62, driver of a 2006 Honda Element SUV, entered the intersection from Cross Road and didn't see a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Brian Curtis, 29, of Palermo, Sgt. Jason Nein said.
Curtis tried to avoid the SUV “by braking and steering left,” but the two vehicles collided and the SUV ended up on a rock embankment, Nein said in a press release. The pickup rotated counter-clockwise before coming to a stop on Cross Road.
The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. on October 1.
The Wiscasset Ambulance Service took Gilbert to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for treatment of her injuries. No one else was reported hurt.
The Alna Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be involved in the crash.
