Edgecomb selectboard meeting canceled for lack of quorum
Wed, 08/19/2026 - 4:20pm
The first problem caused by Edgecomb being down a selectman occurred Aug. 18 as the board canceled its meeting for lack of a quorum. Selectman Cara Gaffney was present, but Chairman Forrest Carver was not.
George Chase resigned July 21, leaving the board with only two members. A special election was scheduled for Nov. 3 to fill the vacancy.
Nomination papers will be available until Thursday, Sept. 3. So far, one candidate has taken out nomination papers. Jesse Wright is a former Edgecomb School Committee member. Town Clerk Claudia Coffin reported on Aug. 18, Wright had "taken out papers, but not returned them."
Selectmen meet next at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 in the conference room.
