‘The Emperor and the Nightingale’

Fourth grade students from Wiscasset Primary School recently had the opportunity to perform their play, "The Emperor and the Nightingale," for Kindergarten and first grade students.
Directed by library volunteer, Nyree Thomas, this fairy tale tells the story of a nightingale who charmed the Emperor of China with her singing. One day she is replaced by a mechanical bird, and escapes to the forest. She returns to the emperor when he falls ill, and saves his life with the beauty of her song.
